Peppermint - new shoes & elvis

I first met Kelley the lady behind peppermint & Ben earlier this year while I was in Brisbane for the Stitches & Craft Show. Kelley and I bonded and it felt like we had been friends for years.

I know how much time mixtape takes and so seeing what the Peppermints couple come up with each quarter astounds me!

They outdo themselves every issue.

While I was flicking through my copy in Monday night I came across these new Birkis. As soon as I could yesterday I drove down to my local stockist to buy a pair. The shoes had only just landed in Australia so I have to wait until next week to pick them up! ahhhhh but I WANT THEM NOW!!!!

I had some fun making up badges last night. Elvis, patterns and sewing ones of course!

We love Sharon Jones in this household so getting a copy of this beauty has made my month!!

Kylie us a textile designer from Buninyong, Victoria and has just recently started a new business called Blue Ginger Designs. Kylie has a background in textiles, design and environmental science and has decided to focus her talents on something she loves, which is textile design.
Her inspiration comes from natural surroundings, her childhood, where she currently lives. Kylie loves her garden and spends many hours tending to it.
Blue Ginger Designs prides itself on having a good waste management procedure throughout all stages of the production and delivery processes, and uses environmentally friendly products.

Hi I'm Jo, auther of a little blog called jelly baby, mum to three pre-schoolers, wife to one, and crafty tinkerer. I have a lovely collection of Japanese craft books, so I was very excited to receive the latest offering from make good : crafts + life, Carefree Clothes for Girls, a Japanese craft book that has been beautifully translated into English.

When Justine asked me to share this newly released book with you, I knew that I couldn't just show you the book without first having a dabble at sewing a pattern or two from it myself.

I chose to make the White Cotton and Flower Print Sundress and as I sewed I kept discovering charming little details that, as the author had promised, added fanciful charm and practical playfulness. As I added each one I found myself more and more delighted with each touch; the lace around the hem, the silver thread stitching around the armholes and pocket, and the "pleasing patchwork" pocket {for collecting that perfect rock or shell perhaps?). It all added to such a charming sewing experience.

On a more practical note, the pattern that I chose was worded clearly,easy to identify and trace from the master pattern sheet, and most importantly for me, the diagrams explained all that I needed to know to sew the garment.

This book is so beautiful to look at, and better yet, so easy to understand; all in all a lovely sewing experience.

Issue 11 OUT NOW and RRR radio campaign

I am proud to say that the "new size" Issue 11 mixtape has been delivered from the printers and is being posted over the next two days (mon 16/11 & tues 17/11).

I also wanted to let my home town Melbourne peeps know that we are running a TWO week radio campaign on RRR. I wrote it and Fee B - squared did the voice over - I am so happy with how it came up.
Did I also mention that mixtape has written a rock'n'roll craft article for The Trip magazine! We had a lot of fun coming up with "The Henry Doll". More will be revealed once the Trip goes out to subscribers. Please let me know if you hear our ad on the radio :)
