I love the internet!

The whole reason mixtape started and still exists is because of the online craft community. It all started with my love affair of the "Secret World" that is blogging back in 2004. I've lost sight of that over the years getting bogged down by paper work and the like. I try and keep my bloglines to under 100 peeps!!! One of my favorite blogs is Colette Patterns and reading over the past 15 posts (catching up on my unread 213) I came across this post on vintage bark cloth. I really admire dress makers, I don' t have the patience for it BUT I wish I did - I have wonderful friends that could help me if I ever decided to! Nic & Peta Pledger are the two beautiful & creative creatures!

I really think so...

We just got our first batch of retail stands from WA. Sime is going to make up a mixtape logo stencil and we can customise them! Fun,fun,fun!!

Craft Leftovers Monthly Review

Most crafty people I know, myself included, have over the years amassed quite a collection of stuff. Stashes filled with bundles of fabric, yarn, notions, beads, buttons, twisted little bundles of pipe cleaners.... I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Then hiding within this stash is another stash. This is the stash that consists of all the little bits and pieces leftover from various projects, tiny scraps of fabric, half a ball of wool, odd buttons, scraps of paper etc that we have no idea what we will do with but can't throw it out. If this sounds remotely like you then you need Craft Leftovers Monthly.

This is a cute little zine which is put together by Kristen Roach. Despite it's teeny little handbag friendly size is packed chock full of crafty goodness. That's not even the best bit. The entire zine it devoted to helping you use up all those little leftovers you have about the place whether they be traditional craft items or something you've just fished out of the recycling.

In the Dec/Jan issue you will find heaps of inspiration to get crafty. Maybe you feel like making a spa set to pamper you or someone you know, knit a teeny little jumper, crochet a loofa sponge or try your hand at paper quilling. Now after all that crafting you are probably a tad hungry. How about some raspberry scones and a cup of chai tea? There is lots of other stuff like interviews, more recipes, a word find, and lots of great articles on a variety of topics.

SUBMISSIONS:
This is a call out to each and everyone of you who reads/likes mixtapezine. You don't need to be a "professional" anything to contribute, you just need to be passionate about the topics you are writing about. We are looking for like-minded people that would like to contribute their work. We can’t pay you but you will get a free copy of the zine when it’s finished and lots of exposure!

We print a minimum of 2000 copies each issues and are stocked in some of the coolest shops around.

Here’s the kind of stuff we are looking for:
Lifestyle and craft related things, eco awareness, natural alternatives, recycling, photographs, pop culture, refashioning, recipes, Illustrations-comic strips etc.

SPECS:
Articles
are to be kept to 500 words or less (for a single page), 900 words or less (for a double page). If you have images to be included with your article, we advise that the word count be less so we can use the images large.
Images
300 dpi jpg, tif or eps file, CMYK, RGB or Greyscale.

IMPORTANT:
Please send to us in a non-formatted Word document .doc or.docx and NOT just written in the email body.
